Rodent Remedies!

Andy and Tj

We have a problem -- a rodent problem!  No, not at home, but here at the radio station.  We have had mice running everywhere this week at our recently-renovated 3-storey radio station on Bernard Avenue!  The 'powers that be' have called in the guys from Orkin to take care of our furry  little friends....but we wanted to get some creative ideas from you on how to solve the mice mayhem!

Here's what you've done AND you say it works:

- Rig a traditional trap with raisins!  NOT cheese, apparently the mice are hip to that scenario and will avoid the cheese!

- Place Bounce sheets and Zest soap bars in the problem areas

- Potpourri balls with Cayenne pepper apparently do the trick

- Lots of people suggested bringing in cats

Oh and we had several suggestions about those sonar devices that emit high frequency sound waves  deterring the mice.  We understand they don't bother cats and or/dogs.

THANKS for all your ideas.  If you have any more, please drop us a comment!

We've found peanut butter with a touch of used coffee grounds is best. The peanut butter is hard to get off which helps if the trap isn't as sensitive.

Sincere suggestion: follow Orkin's instructions - use their bait stations, have them inspect regularly, keep garbage in sealed containers (keep a clean office / workplace). Those said, you could claim that you have allergies to mice and sue the renovator / City / anyone else invvolved (your landlord perhaps) for having caused the serious health hazard (that mice obviously are). We' re in year 3 of litigation over having 'failed to disclose a material latent defect' in a house we thought we had sold but the buyer saw a few droppings (never a mouse -dead or alive). Best wishes, John
