Crow's not so bad when you get used to it.
two and half weeks later, I'm eating crow, so to speak. Yes the medal count and that unprecedented number of Gold medals certainly have helped turn my pessimism around but it was more than just who did or didn't win. I felt a growing sense of pride from the start of the Opening ceremonies at BC Place. I started defending the glitches and even the weather when I started hearing the negative press we were getting.

From Whence Comes Ski Cross?
We watched as Kelowna's Kelsey Serwa competed in a brand new event at the Winter Games in Vancouver. She placed fifth and teammate Ashleigh Mcivor got the Gold but where do new winter sports come from? Throughout the past few decades there have been several intersting propositions for new sports to be included. Follow the link for more..

Cypress Memories
I grew up at the foot of Cypress Mountain. Our corner store was at Cypress Park. I spent many a hot lazy summer's day in the canyon and in the water of Cypress Creek. As kids we'd hike up the hill to go salamander and mud puppy hunting in one of the swamps just off the logging road. In ensuing years we would climb the ridge to enjoy the view from Bare Patch (as we called it) and sneak a smoke "borrowed" from Mom's purse. In winter, at the first hint of cooler weather our aluminum toboggans would dutifully come out for the long drag up that gravel road and the trudge to the actual Cypress bowl where our sledding would invariably be cut short due to our short sightedness in considering that we may actually need gloves. Some years, the snow was the stuff of dreams, others it was barely a skiff of 7-11 like Slush. Later, as a teen, when the old Hollyburn ski area was redeveloped into Cypress Mountain, that old logging road, now paved, became a favorite again for the breathtaking evening views looking out over the lights of Vancouver and some hormone driven "Parking" sessions.
My Show Could Kill You!!!!!!
OMG, please just listen to the music....ignore the man behind the mic!
People really can be bored to death. University College London researchers studied over 7500 civil servants age 35 to 55 over a 25 year period. Those who complained that they were bored were 37 percent more likely to have died by the end of the study. Those who complained of high levels of boredom were 2-1/2 times as likely to die from heart disease or a stoke as contented people. The scientists suggest that if people have boring jobs, they find some hobby to relieve it or else they might turn to smoking or booze to relieve stress. So, now you know. I don't know what to do with this info, its hard not to lit
