Andy and Tj
A huge and hearty CONGRATULATIONS to every single person involved in the 1st Annual Great West Life/Bracken Financial "Swinging With The Stars" Celebrity Dance Off in support of the Central Okanagan Hospice Association!  Friday nights' SOLD OUT event at the Coast Capri was like no other fundraising event this city has seen and by all accounts, it was a massive success!!

We have just learned that $68-thousand dollars was raised at the inaugural event!  WOW - that is awesome!! Thanks everyone!!

Andy and I just can't thank the committee enough for the opportunity to be involved in such a unique, exciting and FUN fundraising event!  While we were so nervous before our performance on Friday night, we took a deep breath and enjoyed every single step in our 2 minute 40 second routine and were bouyed by the supportive crowd cheering all around us!  THANKS so much to our instructor Warren Eaton of Latinesque Dance Studio for performing a miracle!  You are the best!

The three judges George, Tanya and Lorna were so sweet, awarding us a 10, 9 and 8, respectively.  Not bad at all!!  I also have to thank Rosemarie at Ten Fashions for outifitting me in a stunning, long black gown by Canadian designer Selina!  (www.tenfashions.com) I had soooo many compliments on my dress.  Not to mention my hair (courtesy of Total Eclips) and my makeup!  (Thanks to Jeni MacMillan)

Well done to all the other wonderful celebrity couples including Miss Canada International Katherine Thomas and her partner Rob Sebo, Rose Sexsmith and her other half Warren Eaton, Diane Moore and Tom Selzer, Will Gow and his partner Sharon Sebo and last but definitely not least John and Maria Byland!  They cleaned up on Friday night, winning the trophy for the most pledges raised AND for also picked up the hardware for the best performance of the night, as voted on by the judges and the audience!  John and Marias' Vienniese Waltz was romantically superb and earned them THREE pefect 10's across the board!!  Their routine was really something to see and we are so happy for them!!

By the way, our Midday gal Chanine Carr was a lovely emcee on Friday night and did a tremendous job keeping the evening moving along.  It was also so cool to have our mom's present.  Both tell us they fought back tears as we took to the dance floor as they were so excited and proud of us.  Awww......

Now, we promise to get a video segment to you from the evening as soon as possible - it may take a couple weeks, but we promise to make that happen.  Just keep checking here on our blog and keep listening on the air - we'll let you know when we have it.

Again, THANK YOU so much to everyone for supporting this incredible event for such a worthy cause.

Can't wait for next year!

Thank You from the Central Okanagan Hospice Association

Hi Andy & Tj: We, at the Central Okanagan Hospice Association, can not possibly thank you enough for your incredible support and the support of your radio station. Your support was instrumental in ensuring that citizens of the Central Okanagan were aware of the Bracken Financial Services / Great West Life Swinging with the Stars event. But more importantly, you created awareness of what the Central Okanagan Hospice Association is and what the incredible volunteers do to ensure that clients/patients and their loved ones feel the support and care that is aimed at providing comfort to those living with or dying from advanced illness. And, those who are greiving the death of a loved one receive the support to assist them in finding a new normal in their lives. The dancing was spectacular! The judges were wonderful! The dance instructors were patient and kind and can they dance or what! The committee outdid themselves! The sponsors were so supportive! Chanine was the best emcee! And, this was the 1st. Annual - just imagine what it will be like next year. Keep on dancing - you were great as were all the dancers - the STARS of Swinging with the Stars. Shirley
